Magnum Opus! Vore is a 4 piece band hailing from Arkansas (USA). This is their full length debut cd as far as my knowledge goes. This quartet band plays thrash – death metal. Unlike many death metal bands today , Vore has a unique framework of awesome death metal without having to be that raw and brutal! One could probably think of death metal bands in mid 90’s and you could get near to the music compiled by this great band! Vore offer us a highly original form of Death Metal which escapes all kinds of easy classification. This cd has powerful rhythm work! Riff after Riff, theres no way you are going to aviod the moshpit, if this band is playing live. Take in notice the rhythm work of bands like Obituary,Jungle Rot, Dying Fetus etc. the guitars are intense yet kept mid tempo, the listener can probably expect which rhythm pattern is gonna come up next. The guitar work is mindblowing! Leads are done in a technical fashion, out of the ordinary way! The bass notes could be heard in the background, but again, the sound of the bass guitar has not been given too much of importance, its simply the drums, vocals and the incredible guitar work! Alright, coming to the vocals. theres NO gurgling, or any sick guttural touch to it. Then how do the vocals sound like ? Its deep throating and shrieks in combination, very well executed. Both the guitarists have shared the vo’Kills here and its done to perfection! The drums kill as well, they dont go like a machine gun. its supporting the insane rhythm work. But, that has added a very special touch to the tracks on offer here. The 8th track "Opaque", is a acoustic instrumental performed by John Voelker, its memorable, and he has surely given a thoughtful twist to the entire cd!This Instrumental is over 9 mins and it is brillantly worked out! i would personally like to work that solo on my guitar. Another attraction to this cd is the sound of swords, dark electronical keys , which gives you a blustery weather and battlefields kinda feeling in general. These sounds come into listen as the intros, to few of the songs! Being their first full length release , the sound clarity and the production does play a very vital role. In my opinion, there couldnt possibly be a better sound precision to their cd , that Vore has come out with! The disc has 10 tracks and is approx. 50 mins of classic death metal! Here are my favourite tracks in this cd :- GodSlayer, To be a God ,Lurker Above, Agony , Opaque , Primordial Conquest. This CD is a longer listening enjoyment. An essential album to any self respecting Death Metal fan, not to be missed! Very Complete & Original !! 5/5
