These guys need no introduction, SOF is one of the most intense and pulverizing underground death metal bands ever. Yeah, alright they come from Sweden, but they dont have those melodies or the typical Swedish sound in their album here, this cd is somewhere very near to compete with bands like Skinless,Dying fetus,Suffocation and alikes. This is devastating shit! It took me 2 spins to get this cd reviewed up. All the way from grooves to pulsating brutal death grind, these guys are ready to leave the listener in a hacked up kinda state of mind. Is the drummer insane? His performance is blasphemic in all the tracks . A combination of technical and furious double bass onslaught. The cd deserves this level of insanity. Ofcourse, the Rythmwork is always the backbone for these death metal albums. Mange, has done his guitar work with brilliance and in a very distinctive style. he doesnt lag in heaviness and intensity. The leads should leave the scars behind , its bizzare stuff but fantastically done! The most influential participation is here by Henke on his vocals. I couldnt understand the lyrics. His performance on vocals is all muffled up , guttural and totally inhuman . The last track " Assassins " has a scream for approx. 26 secs. this is unbelievable. the vocals have a cut above everything in this product. This cd has been unleashed by Retribute Records ( UK) and apparently, there is excellent production and clarity in sound to all the instruments played in this cd. The run time for each track is roughly more than 3 mins, tormenting every minute.! the cd does not wind up with the last track " Assassins",… just after a short span of time, there are another 2 killer tracks, from their earlier demos i guess, named as: flowing under skin, (9 and f.o.t.c (97) Both of them are punching and brutal. The band is not ready to compromise here. Soils Of Fate have contributed serious punishing and crumbling stuff, its not defined as noise, but perfection which is very well executed. the cd doesnt get monotonous not a single minute, ive enjoyed it right from track 1 to the end!
