It’s not just an upwardly swing of extreme winds with resurrection of NARSIL it’s a twister of sorts, which will sweep you off, carry you to an unknown uninhabited wasteland built over an aftermath of cyclonic destruction-elaboration for which can be found as you read on. Narsil comprises of musicians from two of India’s most prolific metal acts Acrid Semblance and Third Sovereign, plus Anupam (ex-Grey) and Shashwat (failed drummer turned gullet abuser).
Talking about elements, which separate them from the sheaf, firstly, thick slick production of this EP. A riff assault spanning from bashed-up, mean, slender, haunting sections to gradual chunky groove oriented, log slicing, jaw breaking forceful parts. On the other hand, vocals splurge from a range as vast as slit, stabbed, gore-feasted, toilet-flush to crying, pain filled, vomit laden and punctured throat. Fine, which genre their music lies into? Frankly I don’t have an appropriate explanation to it, a better way to describe them would be- NARSIL display intermittent shades of Dying fetus, Origin and Decrepit birth. It’s an immense outflow of energy as soon as track 1’Carcinogenia’ hits out of your amps. Expansion and streamlining of riffs at varied timing accompanied by Shashwat’s animalish sounds (any human can differentiate between vocals and such gestures) truly stand out. Exuberance of vocals is quite superhuman, considering restoration in the final stages of the sound. Track 2 ‘ Lugubrious’ starts off with an immolation kinda riff-emerging from darker realms of the planet, things settle in quickly again vocal and drum composure remaining intact, around the central section there’a slight conditioning from Enslaved fixtures that burnsout, goes thrashy and spontaneously dies. Such moves start turning into defining moments of ‘Carcinogenic’ (EP). ‘Track 3 ‘Depletion of vital forces’ paves way from a ‘dead infection’ styled straight riff into a progressive methodical neck moving one. Reuben on the drums remains impeccable, moulding things around comfortably. Moreover, few segments here and there on this song will remind you of newer ‘Decapitated’ (The negation/organic hallucinosis). Enter ‘Prelude to execution’ band’s most popular soundpiece, courtesy widespread panic by forums. It’s furious and devastating during opening, has vocal surprises of all kinds, especially those itsy-bitsy tweak in between, hardcore-metalcore waves are also caressed during 1st riff change exercise, creating one hell of a joyride. Final track ‘Derelict deranged’ is a thumpy hard pressed metal screw pushed through your head-once you put your ear into murderous, carnivorous cries of song title, later it turns into a junkyard of garage sound with crampy leads flowing in it, making it hard to resist temptation of over and over hearing.
