‘Entwined Emotions’ is the first effort by Italy’s gothic band Lifend. The six-headed band play dark, melodic gothic metal with female vocals with contrasting black metal screams and death metal growls. The music arrangements are excellent and then overall ambience and coordination amongst the musicians is very well executed. Lifend’s music can be visualised as having two sides, one being the sad, sorrow and gentle and the other the aggressive, furious and brutal. Lifend has very wonderfully managed to create a balance between these two extreme sides by the use of instruments like the piano, cellos and the blast beat black metal style drumming. The music played by the band reminds us of the early days of MY DYING BRIDE and sometimes of THE GATHERING. A very good effort by the Italian band and we would like to hear more from this band in future.
