Incarnatus – Sinfonia De Hades

Incarnatus - Sinfonia De Hades My first reaction on hearing the whole album was that these guys are probably South American brothers of Sahil a.k.a. Demonstealer (of Demonic Resurrection, India.). In other words they are also trying to make Melodic Black Metal with lots of other influences like Death, Doom etc. The album kicks off in a damn impressive way. The opener has a Black /Death sound and a catchy riff. One interesting thing here (and almost throughout the whole album) is the double vocals going on simultaneously. One is of the deep, death-metal-ish one and the other one is a high-pitch Black Metal-ish shriek. It’s a deadly number. The second one is also pretty good, with a Thrash/Death kind of approach wherein vocals are primarily the Black-Metal-ish. After these two songs however, things go a little out-of-my-taste. The next two songs have a "sweet" Black Metal approach…..with lots of keyboards and definitely lacking aggression. The fifth song is again back-to-the-basics kind. Fast. Furious. Right up my alley. However even this one has a "sweet" interlude. The next two songs are again "sweet". The 8th song is again a reprieve. With a slightly thrashy riff, it’s again fast and aggressive. The 9th song can almost be labeled a Death-Metal-Ballad. With clean guitar parts and a song structure typical of a pop/rock ballad (complete with a neat solo in between), this song was more of a culture shock to me. Last one is simply an outro. You can very well understand that there are too many ideas at work here. Now you can call me narrow-minded or straight-jacketed (or a jack-ass, for all I care) but I definitely prefer a band, which comes up with one sound// approach in an album(if not entirely through their career).
