This is Emperor’s second full length album after their cult and trendsetter debut masterpiece " In The Nightside Of Eclipse " . There came a mcd "The Reverence" Which contained three songs one of them is feature on the current CD. The opening track Al Svartra starts with excellent soft tone acoustic intros enriched with many Celtic voices like wind, whispering birds, howling wolves etc and then after 2-3 minutes falls in to majestic heavy " Ye Entrancemperium " Followed by " Thus spake the nightspirit " which is based on a very carefully based speedy guitar melody which takes a quick downfall and then again rises like hell!!and ends with very rich sounding keyboards filled outro."Enscrolled by khaos" is a very good song with very powerful vocal lines and power chording. Then comes "The Loss and curse of reverence " taken from mcd reverence. And man What the hell is this!!! its like when all the hell break loose!!!! Starts off with the heaviest power chording i have ever heard. Then " acclamation of bonds " Also a keyboard filled song but I don’t like this that much even though its a good song. Now, you are just imagining what the hell can Inshan & co. do better than "The loss.." or "Thus spake …" and all of a sudden a mind fucking heavy drum intro bangs in your head, Inshan and samoth’s flooding guitars kick you ass so hard and Inshans screams scaring the hell out of you. Yes , This is a maelstrom, This is " With strength I burn " .Probably the best song on the album, this is "Inno a Satana" for this album. Killer riffs, haunting keyboard melodies, screeching growls, soul stirring clean vocs and above all One of the best lyrics , my eyes have ever seen. This is supreme. The outro " The wanderer" composed by Samoth has The best riff any song can ever have. Its amazingly catchy. And adds a superb finale to this masterpiece, keeping the melancholic and dark mood of the album. But there’s only one riff in the song but the short length and variety in drums and bass saves it from being repetitive. On the latest copies of this album 4 bonus tracks are featured. 1st is " In longing spirit " which was taken from their unreleased demo. This is the only bad song on the album IMO. " Opus a Satana " is a total keyboards version of Emperor’s and black metal’s all time classic opus " Inno a satana."Which is very well performed and shows artistic genius of Inshan and Samoth. the other is a live version of " The loss and curse of reverence ",it suffers from the horrible production so leave it hear the studio one. And the biggest gift of this cd is the CD -Rom multimedia Video track of " The loss and curse of the Reverence" . This is majestic, very well shot and superb sounding. All Members play like they are directly being kicked out from the Hell!!! I will really like to add that Lyrics to all the songs are Amazing and totally genius. I think Inshan should leave his job with Emperor and work as a Full time Poet!!! The only reason why i gave it 9/10 and not 10/10 is the bad [ not so bad ] production. The words are very hard to hear and the keyboards are too much dominating. But who cares with the album this much great!! Finally if you are into Norwegian Black metal scene , You already have this album. This is a best album for anyone to get into black metal scene, and you should get it or die!!!!!! Winds and storms embrace us now Lay waste the life of day Open gates to the darker lands We spread our wings and fly away – Al Svartra , Emperor
