The name "Black tear" would generally escort a band playing gothic or even doom metal music. This band comes from the hellpits of Barcelona – Spain & have made their presence in the underground scene, having their songs included in one of the Spanish compilations " BLOODY COMPILATION III ". I would categorize their music as Melodic Black Death. This is the first BT demo and its got songs from their live recordings at a show in early summer 2001…Personally I havent heard many Live albums with the quality as this one, ..coool stuff!. The Sound Engineering is amazing, Done with great precision and crystal clarity! 7 tracks in all, the 1st being a prelude which has got an opera kinda sound ; fine work to unleash the impending.. Kicking off with the main set of songs on stage. The 2nd track "War And Roses" goes a lot like "Punish my Heaven" by Dark Tranquility, the remaining songs including this one have frequent breakdowns in their song structures ; with a few melodic solos and that does make the cd a great listen, As far as the rhythms go, not much to write about it, overall a thrash and galloping sound! They (Rhythms) could have surely added up power backups with the solos. One can probably predict that, the BT members are influenced by many bands, and if you do: your going ryte, Scratching from bands like Metallica, Dream Theater to Emperor & Suffocation ..the band has many influences, but then, the song lineup thats played here, is very catchy and reflectionary to Dark tranquillity, Dissection and Opera Ix. The 4th track " Black Tears "is an instrumental, very short roughly to a minute, In my opinion its slightly similar to Morbid Angels "Desolate Ways" but shorter. Should have been a bit lengthier! The drums are fast most of the times, and go midpaced as and when the music slows down, can hear each drumming note very clearly, that too – in a live show, that rocks! Bass notes are not that prominent , Unlike in the sixth track "The Wolves’ Mother" and the last track "When The Last Sun Rays… " where the song hits its way out with a few bass variations : Gets the listener a groove feeling , so if they could burst out their bass sound with the solos it would have been a great listen! Standing out are the vocal performances. where growls and black cry outs are executed very well, Both have accuracy in their sense of timing and thus, it gives a rough headbanging layout to the entire cd! Thrilling compilation! The cds got a few very memorable guitar tunes, that pushes the rating a bit higher! Every track nearly has a timing of 5 mins on average, Approx 28 mins of very creative and original music! Tracks that remain in your head for long :- War And Roses, Sixth Akelarre, The Wolves’ Mother, When The Last Sun Rays.. If you want to listen to a cd with some original melodic metal music with aggression combined, Get this "Live" demo, Its definitely not disappointing! At the end, Im simply waiting for whats gonna be next by this Spanish extreme band! Great going!
