‘Anvil of doom’ is an Xtreem Music release and both the band and label hail from Spain. This effort ‘Deathillusion’ plagues my eardrums with melodic thrash, which is complex & demanding to get into It’s got this very unfriendly thrash tone, that is thinner distortion wise simultaneously flattered by exorbitant lead work. Music progresses too often, breaching a singular rhythm feel, and most lead parts almost give an impression of listening to a solo guitar player’s record, keeping in mind -restless, wicked and superfluous. Overtaking all other things worth considered as music a clear-cut situational inequality Meanwhile, vocals shuffle in-between shriek-screams (shuttling a touch of Alexi Laiho-COB, subtracting his authentic range and rage) and low hard growls, which are definitely a flipside. Because, sooner you start focusing on one vocal element, other creeps up to loosen it all. (I can’t stop recommending a recent ‘Exhumed’ album to learn and appreciate the art of balancing twin vocals!).Moving on, no flaws in instrument arrangement, keeping in mind technical aspects of the genre but somehow ‘Anvil of doom’ deviate too much from the line failing to keep it tied together, straight, into the face- thrash.
My favorite takes from ‘deathillusion’are-guitar harmonizations, pinch prowess, bent forward backward riffs, and meshing of moist leads. All these are available best on ‘My suic’hyde'(track2), ‘Millenium’ (track4) and ‘Let the Earth breathe’ (track10).
Its slightly complicated, than it should have been. Nevertheless, it gets a six on ten. (6/10)
