Abhor is a 5-member death metal outfit from Mumbai who are famous for raising havoc on venues they are allowed to destroy!! The band consists of Sushil with his blasphemic vocals, Manjit with the slaughtering his six stringer, Ashish providing the hypnotic leads, Suhas with his sepulchral bass lines and Virendra (a left handed drummer) accountable for the double bass thunder. The band made this video recording of their performance on the 17th of Dec. last year at the MMK college. The VCD kicks off with Manjit’s headbanging mug and Sushil promptly devastates with the trademark death metal growls and manic headbanging on their cover of "Mandatory Suicide". Once the cameraman pans the audience u realise that the band is joined by 7-8 headbangers only!! And the reason for was that hardcore metallers were prevented from getting in (how stupid can organizers get after arranging a rock show!!) And the cameraman shooting this video was dumber than the dead audience as he keep focussing on those morons. Next up they did "Slave New World" by Sepultura with loud booming bass and this got the crowd a bit more involved and interested too!! I think that all the bitches chatting up while Abhor was performing their guts out should be shot. Also the unenlightened few who think dancing to Slayer is cool (jeeezzz!!). The vocals were not up to the mark on this one but Ashish handled the solo excellently and the rhythm section was rock-solid too, but the camera refused to focus on the band for even a second preventing u from witnessing a killer rendition. Next up they did their original "Murder of Infernal Hope" a pure, adrenaline pumping death composition with a Morbid Angel influence and Sushil spewing out garbled incantations. The dead crowd still provided no motivation for these maniacal five-some. Ashish proves his worth with the long and furious solo which has a mild eastern touch to it. Their bassist is truly a zombie or something as he refuses to move in any way and looks dead (literally!!). Next song "Lycanthropy", another self-composition starts off abruptly with a nice drum roll. An average song with bursts of chaotic fury and prompting some moshing, which shoos away any pseudo-metallers instantaneously – good riddance to bad rubbish!! Huh?? Last song done by them is "Territory" which totally rulz to say the least – some aggressive headbanging advised to this song! Some mosher comes on stage to help Sushil out, as if his throaty growls weren’t enough to kill you. The band’s highlight has to be this song played note for note like the Brazilian masters ending the VCD leaving you in bliss and in a heap too with a broken neck, I hope? The band is dogged by the poor sound they were handed and the non-responsive crowd adding to their misery. But the band seemed to be oblivious of the morons as they very evidently enjoying themselves paying tribute to their gods. And to top things off the cameraman had no clue to focus on what and when making the VCD a tad bit boring but I’m sure Abhor’s raw energy enthuses u. A very good effort by this upcoming extreme band. Given the right time and crowd they’ll murder u with their hate!! For details about the VCD get in touch with abhor at abhor666@yahoo.com or Hetal at hetal_bhagat@yahoo.com. UP THE IRONS!
