Bangalore based Tantric Metal band Tiffin Box was formed in May 2010 by a few people interested in bringing in a new genre of Metal. Fusing Hindustani and Carnatic elements with strong growls and screeches, the band succeeded in their endeavour to create what they like to call “Tantric Metal“. While the “hindustani” vocals and the “sanskrit” shlokas give the music a melodic touch, the growls and screeches, along with heavy guitar riffs compliment each other brilliantly, and at the same time, add power and aggression to the entire composition. The addition of frequently used Jazz signatures and double bass grooves also influence the sound of the band to a great extent. This, coupled with great live performances, the band assures both, metalheads and non-metalheads brilliant music- stuff that is all set to scorch the Metal scene.
The band has finally called it quits by issuing the following announcement over their Facebook Page:
“Okay, so we have some sad news. Tiffin Box has decided to call it a day. We have “broken up”, if that’s what it can be called, due to a few reasons, which we couldn’t not consider anymore. Some of us will be continuing our pursuit together as a new band very soon, so watch out for us, we have “big” things in mind.”
“For all the amazing memories, from winning 5 out of 5 college fests and people actually bringing tiffin boxes to our shows; to getting selected as one of the 12 bands from all over the country for IIT-Kharagpur’s Wildfire, just 6 months into our formation, to the first Strawberry Fields that we played which gave us our first pictures and our first article in the Media; and more recently for qualifying for the Wacken Metal Battle in the South Zone, and our songs being aired on Hard Rock Radio Live, its been a great run. We loved every bit of this journey, and none of it would have been possible without the help of every one of you 6420-something amazing fans! That figure right there is something we’re definitely proud of, and will cherish for the rest of our lives.”
“It was AWESOME until it lasted!”
