Newly formed death metal band, PRIMITIV, have released their first single titled ‘Taurus’. Based in Mumbai, Primitiv started out as the side-project of Dr. Hex (Riju Dasgupta). The band has Dr. Hex aka Riju Dasgupta (Albatross) on bass guitar, Rajarshi Dasgupta (ex Apollonian Quest & also with Hellwind), Nitin Rajan (ex Morticide,) on vocals & Pushkar Joshi (Blood Meridan & Hellwind) on drums. The band revolves around the stories of the future Earth as conceived by Dr. Hex. The stories talk about how the Earth is hurled back into primitive ways of life after a holocaust wiped out not only a substantial population, but also the science, art and culture of the age. The band said the sound of the song will be purely decided by the storyline & hence they wont be sticking to a said genre & hence they called their music as Stone Age metal.

The first single ‘Taurus‘ is about the the rising of the Lord of War and was a concept by Dr. Hex who came up with the story and Rajarshi pretty much nailed the whole track in a single setting. Ashwin Shriyan (DR, RD, Blood Meridian) produced the track. Vineet Sharma from Nocturnal Arts designed the logo & Aakash Dwivedi has done the artwork for the single depicting the retro-futuristic theme in mind. The current theme has been to hand draw the images as is the case with both the logo & the art work.
